I can't speak about an AMS licp but when I installed my Buschur licp I didn't remove the bumper. I just used a 12mm Gearwrench to loosen the 2 12mm bolts holding the stock licp mounting brackets to the car.

Who's LICP doesn't make a difference. It's that hidden 12mm bolt that holds in the stock LICP that seems to be the problem. When I was under my car I couldn't see any way to reach that bolt without removing the bumper. I guess come Evo's have more clearance than others to get to that bolt.

The bolt near the oil cooler guide is hard to see. Once you spot it you can get to it by using a gearwrench. The oil cooler guide on my 05 is pretty flexible. I pushed it out of the way and loosened the bolt until it fell out. I think the bolt near the fenderwell is a little easier to see and get to.

Did you do a write-up on your LICP install on the IX? The current LICP should not fit the IX turbo, since it has a different compressour housing and thus different outlet. Does the AMS LICP not replace the stock outlet pipe from the compressor?

I'm asking, because if the AMS LICP fits cleanly on the IX, then I know where to send people when making recommendations to IX owners. I thought that if it was known to fit perfectly on the IX, there would be more publicity stating such. Let the cat out of the bag, eve-slow!

!
No it does not.
I've put on a AMS LICP with the factory oil cooler guide in place and the bumper on the car. Removing the front bumper is very easy though.

So how much work is it to actually get the AMS pipe to fit? Does everyone have this problem?

Take it off ^^^

You have a better chance of not getting a clamp tight enough without doing so. You're going to have to take the undertray off anyways.. what's an extra 6 bolts and 2 snaps

I know that I plan on taking the undertray and bumper off. However, people are complaining about fit!

tryed to put my licp on without taking it off but reaching that bolt was to hard without taking the bumper at least half off, meaning i did it with loosening half of it and stretching it out without talking it fully off, took me longer just to get the lower pipe to fit right then it did to install my front mount. I did them on seperate days... and like someone said earlyer once you pulll off the bumper off a few times it's pretty easy to do again. took me about 15 min to take it off to put on my front mount, make sure you tighten the clamp right after the bead or it could pop off on you, it did it to me after i put on my front mount and happened to another friend of mine.

sad part is 2 months later i had to pull them off to sell no j.o.b. no car

As far as I know with my IC plumbing (all stock), everything is completely accessible from underneath (except I/C itself) even easier on ramps. Must take 3 panels off underneath though - I use quick disconnect fastners takes 5 min to remove and 10 min to install the panels.

I just did the LICP install this morning. There are 2 bolts, and at least 2 snaps along the upper edge (under the hood). Then 1 bolt and 2 snaps on either fender well. Then the 2 bolts holding the front plate hanger.

So 6 bolts and 6 snaps, I believe.

Regardless, I agree that it's very little extra effort to just pull the bumper skin. I don't know why anyone would leave the bumper on and struggle with reaching the OE pipe bolts. It's literally 5 minutes to remove it.

I pulled out the radiator reservoir bottle from the top and you can see the top bolt from there.Reached down and loosen from the top.Didnt need to remove bumper either, just the bottom tray.
