Former DSM guys, please speak up about your BR 20G reliability.

There is quite a bit of debate about the reliability of the Buschur Racing 20G turbos, based upon people making claims that the DSM 20G turbos were very unreliable turbos. I'd hate to see such claims cause a respected vendor on here to unjustly lose potential sales because of these types of claims. Here's the thread, but post in here not that one on this matter so we don't completely hijack that thread any more than I have already.

All brands and lines of turbos have a percentage of defects, and the 20G is not immune, so I'm not trying to say there has not been any 20G failures due to manufacturing and/or assembly defects. I, as a satisfied customer of the BR 20G for the DSM, maintain that I've had zero failures of these units I've had personal experience with, and know of many other people that had no troubles either. I'm only standing by my assertion that the Buschur Racing 20G for DSMs was just as reliable as the other popular turbos available.

Please don't bother going into details about why the concept of a 20G is unreliable, and how the compressor is mis-matched to the turbine wheel/shaft, becaue that is all common knowledge about many types of popular hybrid turbos (not just 20Gs). Let's talk about actual failures of your units (or your customers Mr. Buschur), and keep the opinionated stuff to a minimum. If you have no direct experience, stay out please.

I'll be more than happy to concede if we can get some good real-world examples listed, and establish facts that substantiate the claims of the DSM 20G being an unreliable turbo.

I've had a BR20g for 4 years. It served duty on my 4G63 mirage for the majority of its life, and has recently been installed on my 1991 Talon AWD. This turbo has seen and done it all. It went 11.6 in my mirage with a best of 123mph. Couldn't ask for a better all around turbo that delivered great power and has been extremely reliable. For pics check here:
