20g-9 vs BB 50trim vs 3037 vs 3076

I know most people think stock turbo or gt35/40/42r. I want to make between 400-500whp, but i dont' wanna have the lag of the gt35 or larger turbo. heard very good things about the 20g-9, but it can't flow the air up top like a 50 trim could. However 20g-9 spools soon, which i have heard the bb 50 trim spools quick too. I do the occassional drag racing, but am more interested in autox. was looking for your guys opinions or experiences w/ either turbo. Thanks!

20g-9, or a 3076.. 3076 will have a better top end.. 20g-9 good turbo on small autox tracks.. 3076 for big road courses..

Could not have said it better. I would reccomend an external gate with the T04S cover if you plan on road racing, no surge problems at all. I think with race gas or alky this is the best turbo for a stock 2.0. Although the 20G-9 looks to be pretty sick as well.

Stocks turbos, 9.8, 10.5 or tme are the best turbos for autox for our cars. Stockish turbo have way better powerband than any aftermarket turbo IMO.

A 2.3 with a BB 50 trim would be a wicked combination. You can make great power for drag racing, have quick spool for autox, and it would be real fun to drive on the street.

i agree, problem w/ the 20g-9 is holding the boost to redline... that's why i was considering a larger turbo. Check out the dyno on the evo ix 2.3 stroker w/ stock turbo. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ghlight=2.3+ix

Great thread!! i was thinking about creating the same thing. i am also looking for an inbetween turbo. the choices you have listed are the same ones i am looking at. the 3076r does not seem to make the power it should, most people see 450whp on pump and alky. cars with the 3037r usually are making more power than the 3076r, but everyone still seems to say that they are both the same turbo.

the 50trim seems very nice, couple of cars on the forum are making 470-480whp on pump and alky, but everyone seems to stay away from this turbo for some reason. i would like to know why the 50trim is not recommended or considered by most people?

the 20g-9 seems promising, but no one has posted any results, the only ones are from buschur's highly modified car, which most people would not even get alot of the upgrades he has. the thing that seems nice is that the 20g-9 will be like the stock turbo, where it produces the same if not more torque than hp. the thing i am looking for is how much power the 20g-9 will make on pump and alky and how that number compares to the 3037r and 50 trim. then if two cars had the same mods but only difference was the turbo, which one would win in a race, since the turbo kits usually make quite a bit less tq than the stock-like turbos.

the last comparison is with a 2.3, for instance it seems like with the 50trim(pump and alky) you should make 480whp and possibly 480wtq, which would be a monster set up! the same can be said for the others, but the hp level is where its hard to say what they would make.

the only other turbo that is worth considering is the gt3040/3065r. this seems to be the missing link between the gt30r and gt35r, as it can make 500+whp, but spool better than a 35r. my situation is unique because i need the best street/drag turbo for high elevation(6500ft).
