on a side note, would the 3076r be the better choice compared to the ix-20g? looking for street/drag set up. mostly race supercharged v8s, vettes, vipers from standstill or rolling races.

Me too! I guess now that I know it was a 71r I am pretty stoked to try a 76r with a .82 Garret housing. My old turbo ran great on pump and also on alky. Now I know why anything over 27 psi got me nothing. Maybe I am being cocky about it but I really feel I can get a 76r in the tens. Here is a link to a third gear pull with the old turbo:3rd gear pull on a BR500BB, aka GT3071r

Actually the BR500 BB should have been a GT3076 already.

So the turbo I had was a 76r, but it had the 3" shroud and a .48 turbine? What is the current configuration of 30r you have now? I really liked the old setup but am looking for a good combo to go with the 2.3. I like your new 30r or 35r but I am intrigued by the 4-bolt housing for both of those turbos! As usual with your parts they are the most bang for the buck but the FR parts have the seductive allure of a Porsche.Evolved Member
We no longer sell the non ball bearing turbos for the EVO's. When we first switched over to BB turbos we left the BR440, BR500 and BR580 names with them. It became easier to just call them what they are.
We offer, standard these turbos:
GT3071
GT3076
GT3582
On these we offer a custom turbine housing that has V band clamps for the Tial 44m wastegate built into it and a V band for the 02 housing. The set up is the cleanest out there as far as I am concerned. Performance is kick *** too. The GT35R on our black car ran 10.12 at 141 mph.
The GT35R comes standard with the ported shroud compressor cover.

Dave,
What would be your recommendation on a turbo for my car? It will see drag strip, track, and mostly street. If I go with your kit it will be much cheaper since I have the fan, dp, oil/water lines all in place now. Like I said before I was rally happy with your br500bb on a 2L.

4ring,
I have questions before I can give answers. If you were happy with the BB500 kit why did you take it off? I am not asking to be a smart ***, I need to know if what it is you are looking to change. BTW, the kits have improved GREATLY since you had yours. You'll be impressed with all the differences we have implimented.

Actually I sold the old kit b/c for a few bucks more I could get your upgraded kit with a coated mani rather then buy the parts separate and upgrade mine. I was really planning on going to a 35r but now I am not so sure. After driving my dads Z06 again it make me realize how much fun torque is out on the street. I am thinking that your new 30r and a 2.3 would be beast on the street and still have the possibility of getting into the tens while being a nice track car at the same time. I don't know if a 35r can do all of that.Former Sponsor
4ring,
I am going to test a new/old turbo here in the next week. We have Rober Fuller's car here doing a "make over" on it. The car is pretty torn up and we are going over the entire car. The car has a 2 liter in it, Stage 3 head and AEM EMS. We are making things simpler on the car and cleaning up a lot of bad ideas other people have done to it. I had a turbo here that we use to sell called our BR57. That is just a code name that we made for it back when we ran it. First time to the track on a DSM the car ran 10.57. Anyway, that turbo has gone 10.0 at 140 mph on multiple cars with no nitrous, just a stock computer and VPC and 30 psi of boost. The spool up on them is better than the GT35R while the power output is slightly less. I am curious to see what it is going to make. This is actually a non water cooled, non ballbearing turbo. I had it hear and am very curious to see how it works. This could open the door for an even cheaper kick butt turbo kit.
