Look up about 4 posts and you'll see some 20G dyno numbers. The 9 cover isn't supposed to affect power, just surge, so that's a good datapoint.

That is incorrect. I guess you forgot the IX has the larger compressor housing. However, yes it also does address and supposively cure the surge issue.

I know that the larger compressor housing reduced surge, but where did you get the idea that it increases power? If that's been posted, I completely missed it.

The 20G-8 equipped Buschur RS made 376 whp on the BR dyno. I believe it's now at 388 whp after adding the Evo9 cover, but that also includes the addition of the tubular O2 housing (10 whp?) and the AEM EMS boost control. Seems pretty close to me

I dont' think Dave changed anything on his car from teh 8 20G to the 9 20G besides the turbo itself. I believe he had AEM on it with both turbos. He even said his car has everything to go low 10's minus the turbo. I'd rather have the 9 20G.

a larger housing will flow better and more air.

I don't think the larger compressor cover helped with power but it sure made the turbo smoother with no surge.

Looking at Davids numbers it is easy to say that there was no power increase with the 20g-9, but we'll really never now for sure unless we try them on the same car under the exact same conditions. Theoretically with a larger compressor cover the turbo should flow more air but sh|t i don't know im not a physics teacher. I ordered the turbo b/c i always wanted a bolt on turbo but the 20g-8's surged, which turned me off to the idea at first. The turbo is sitting in my room right now just waiting for a new o2 housing and install kit.....to tell you the truth i am "baffled" by how much larger the compressor housing is than my current 8 turbo. I can't wait to get this thing on my car.

Thats what I was thinking about.... that the 9 made around 11 more whp on Buschur's dyno. Yeah Im not sure about the 02 but I def thought the AEM was already there.

David DID do a test with the ebay o2 sensor housing and had good success, about 5-10whp over the ported one. Also, he did have the AEM with the 20G-8. HOWEVER, he just recently setup the boost control feature on the EMS w/the 20G-9. This allowed the turbo to hold boost way high in the upper rpm's where they used to fall off. These 2 changes definitely added power and it is proven through the dyno graphs. Therefore, the 20G-9 and 20G-8 will have the same power output.
