o2 housing are a PITA to install. there is one bolt in the back on the bottom (14mm) that is next to impossible to get off. plus, the bolts felt like they were torqued to 300 ft/lbs. it was ridiculous. good thing i bought the hotside at the same time. even that didn't want to come off the turbo, and i ended up having to pull the whole turbo. I had a really fun saturday dicking with that. I took some pics initially, but the breakdown was such a pain, that i stopped documenting it. oh, and you have to pull the studs out of the hotside too.. yipee more fun.

I pulled the turbo too when I did the O2 housing. Made me really regret not doing it when I did the WR. Now I'm thinking of pulling it all apart again to do ported hot side and manifold. No pain no gain

I can believe they all look the same on the outside, but that wouldn't tell you the quality of the welds, materials, etc. Sort of like comparing an AMS FMIC to the Ebay version -- they look the same on the surface, but...

Also, okevolutionVIII above posted that the ebay O2s he's seen often have fitment problems. The Helix that I have didn't have any such problem. It fit as well as the stocker.

Maybe they are the same and I got lucky? Just wondering where this information came from.
There were many posts about them. Actually, one of the member here bought all of those and compared. They were identical( welds, materials, etc.)

Yes, it is PITA, It requires good tool. I didn't take out the turbo. I used breaker bar and soak it real good with WD 40. If nobody wants my ebay o2 housing, i will put it in my car. I got ported o2 housing but this should give me more power. ID of this thing is over 2.5 inch. My ported ID was 2.25 inch. This thing weights only 4.8 lbs. Stocker is 9.2 lbs. If anyone wants my ported o2 housing instead of this ebay piece, PM me.

yeah, if you do the o2, you might as well do the hotside, and you might as well get an upgraded exhaust mani too while you're there... shoot, might as well just go for a full turbo kit... do it all in one shot and be done with that section of the car until something breaks.

Nope, everything was the same dimension, material and everything. Obviously you are in denial since you paid too much money for the same thing. The ebay o2 housing comes in various forms like xs engineering, ss autochrome, megan, helix...etc. But, they are all made by one factory overseas. All the companies just sell the same thing with their logo on.

Ive had 3 of the 02 housings in question in hand. The Helix, Megan and Edge motorsports (ebay ones I have and use) are 100% identical. They most definitely come from the same place. The welds are perfect. I dont know about this fitment issue. That must have been the $20 ebay one .

I think over time they'll be just fine. Many members on here have had them on for 10k+ miles and have had 0 issues. In terms of longetivity, I think the ceramic coatings will help and also, its good for keeping the temps down since you dont have the heat sheilds anymore.

I have to agree with Tae above - If you paid for a Helix at $150+, Im sorry. No justifying needed, they are the same. I actually bought a Helix couple months ago, then got an Ebay one, compared them up and down and sold the Helix the next day for what I paid for it. I then got a Megan and compared it (got it for a steal), still the same, so I sold that too. Cant beat the $85 one.

Thanks for the tip guys. I was hesitating with the same discrepency on whether to purchase Ebay piping. The prices are great, but sometimes when it's too good to be true, it usually is. For example, I saw a "Megan" O2 housing WITH the downpipe, both for $150!

Yes, all of the orders that were here for coated housings should be gone or leaving. I have another 10 coming to be sent to coating again. I also just about 10 new EVO manifolds so we can try to get them on the shelf, we can't keep up the way it is now.
