It wouldn't slide over the studs on the turbine housing at first. So I drilled out those holes first. I had to increase one of the holes three sizes.

Then I tried to install all of the other stock mounting bolts. Only 1 would go. So I enlarged all those holes (3 of them) by one size. Then 2 bolts fit. But to get the last bolt in I had to increase it's hole another two sizes larger.

 

Anybody know what a place will charge to cat an 02?

Wow thats weird. I sell the 02s actually and Ive never heard of that problem, maybe you just got a bad one.

One thing about the Ebay 02s is they give you that bag of bolts. Complete junk. None of them are even usable. You should just use your stock ones, including stock DP spring loaded bolts.

I would have to go dig up the thread, but basically the bolt holes were not lining up with the turbo. Apparently this is a very isolated case. Which is good to hear.

 

I had an O2 housing coated in Jet Hot's 2000 degree coating last year. It was $40. I had a manifold done at the same time and that was $95. You might get a better deal with a lesser company, but I've had great luck with the durability of the Jet Hot 2000 stuff. It's been going strong on my down pipe for over 2 years too with no flaking or anything.

Jet-Hot's regular silver/chrome appearing coating looks nicer and is cheaper, but doesn't hold up nearly as well. In fact I've never seen any of my friends have good luck with silver high temp coatings past the 3 year mark.

Swain is probably the best of all of the coaters and they are within 25% of Jet-Hot's prices.

 

funny how different megan products can be. I wanted to buy some megan resonated test pipes for my Z, but everyone on the forum says that they are junk. I loved the DP for my evo though. Its good to see that just because its not the most expensive, it still performs.

 

Does the buschur one come with bolts that fit?

 

You re-use the stock ones.

 

Is there a reason why the eBay 02 pipe comes with all those bolts? Mine had a bag of 5-7 nuts and bolts in it.

I guess they want to give the image of a "complete" package however, all those bolts are garbage, and the gaskets too.

You should definitely re-use your stock downpipe/02 DONUT gasket.

I bought my o2 housing off eBay and sent it to Jet Hot to get coated.

Total Cost - $ 120.00

If you are not in a hurry this is the only way to go!!
