what mods to do on the evo 9?
hey guys im new here i had a sti before just traded in for a new evo .my plans are to buy a clutch, down pipe and cat delete going catless by the way, keeping stock cat back, going with bigger injectors, fuel pump,272 cams and cam gears and i want a em that i can switch maps easy like the utec but i herd it is not good for the evo and i dont know if i can use it with the new mivec.i will be running smc alky injection in the future thanks.what brands and parts would you guys recommend and turbotrix will be tuning my car
I'll start by saying, you need to search around the website a little more and all your answers can be found.
Why are you keeping the stock catback, I personally think that is dumb. So with that said, the best mods for the IX seem to be a Turboback Exhaust, Manual Boost Controller, and a Flash. These three mods will put your IX well past 300WHP and 300WTQ. You can also go with an Intake, but nothing really expensive, a K&N or HKS Drop in filter will be just fine and save you money (make sure your IX gets tuned after a filter mod). Also one IX went with a aftermarket intercooler and pipes and made 12WHP, but that's a pretty expensive upgrade, and not really that needed on a stock turbo EVO. An Alcohol Kit should work fine. Cams specific for the IX are not yet available, but you can try a VIII Exhaust Cam (not Intake Cam) and see if you gain any power, in my opinion you won't see much if any gain. If you want more info, your going to need to search around, there are plenty of threads involving the EVO IX and mods.

well you can have the potential to that with the IX with not too many modifications. But it's all in the driver, there are many EVO owners that have cars with the potential to run mid 11s, but are not. I said this before on another thread, see why you need to search.

what does Turbotrix recommend? They have a good standing in the EVO community. I doubt they would recommend keeping the cat back. You'd be suprised with your 1/4 miles from a simple turbo-back exhaust system and a tune (flash) from a reputable dealer..
You're way off on the mods. If Turbotrix is going to be tuning your car, then I don't understand why you are asking about what mods to get, and I especially don't know why you'd ask about which EM to choose. They do their own tuning with flashes. If you are going to get a standalone or piggyback, you should tune it yourself.
Anyway, you have a lot of research to do before thinking about mods. You were off on the injectors, fuel pump, cams, cam gears, and the stock catback craziness. You should really just talk to Turbotrix to find out what you need. TBE, MBC, and flash are good for 12 flat. With alky, you'd be good for 11.6-11.7s.
