Is my turbo blown?

I hope it isn't.

Car won't build boost at all. Maybe .1-.2 bar according to the boost gauge. Trying to accelerate and build boost, the car just sputters and i hear this air suction noise (maybe the cone filter). I let it bounce off the 2 step, it builds maybe .1-.2 bar, and there is white smoke coming out the tailpipe. I just had this car flashed this last weekend.... i don't have the money to replace the turbo. could it be something else?

how much smoke? if the turbo is completely gone it will be pouring white smoke everywhere. you can also check by pulling off your intake and moving the wheel of the turbo, if there is alot of play then i would say yes.

your description sounds like a blown turbo. Stand behind the car and smell the smoke coming off the tailpipe. If it smells like unburnt fuel, you probably blew and intercooler hose off. If it smells like burnt oil, your turbo is toast.

Another good method, pull the intake piping to the turbo inlet and check for damage to the compressor wheel and rub marks on the housing. If you see either, obviously it's your turbo.

Wow, seems as though these turbos are starting to drop like flies. Check for a leak. Intercooler hoses are blown off all the time. <---Ask anyone of the Vishnu guys. And be elaborate with your descriptions. What else do you notice? Any other sounds?

i did a quick check on the intercooler hoses on the side of the freeway... didn't seem like any of them came loose. i had the car towed to mitsu already, and they already gave me the whole, "oh you've pretty much voided your factory warantee" speil. My girlfriend stood behind the car when i revved it up and she told me that there was no smoke, then it started coming out after a few seconds. sHe also told me last night that the car was smelling funny, but i thought it was just the new o2 housing and hotside metals "breaking in"... it wasn't too pronounced.
Mitsu said maybe a blown BOV? or a vaccum line? kinda doubt that though. i dunno why the turbo would blow so soon, its only got 32K on it.

Tell that part to B5 S4 owners !!! Check the turbo for scoring and freeplay as stated above.

Basically if the car is off=boost it is fine. Once it trys to get on-boost, I briefly hear a air sucking noise (like a cone filter makes when you accelerate) and at the same time, the car sputters, like the IC hose to the Throttle body came off, but with out the whole engine dying after-effect.

Do you have the car now or is it still at the dealer?

I can't think of why they would check the compression for detonation, doesn't make sence to me.

Did you have the problem imediately after the 10.5 HS install?

Did the problem occur right after a mod instal or did it gradually appear?

If it is blown you may want to check out my sick prices in the vendor forum on turbo's and packages...

Although I hope its not blown, good luck!
