FMIC Review
FMIC Review
I Received my Buschur Racing "Race" FMIC earier this week, i figured that before i get in anodized and installed i would have some of inspectors performe a quality control test on it.
Welds- Clean and consitant, uniform penetration. The inspcetor said it was almost Aerospace quality welds.
Flow- Had him strap it to our Superflow SF-1200 flow bench and at 20 psi pressure it ourflowed out bech (1200cfm max reading)
Pressure rating- Pressurized to 65psi no leaks
Pressure Loss- .84 psi @ 20psi
1.23 psi @ 25psi
1.74 psi @ 30psi
2.15 psi @ 35psi
2.65 psi @ 40psi
Overall Apperance- Excelent
Packageing- What appears to be 2 weeks worth of newspaper (j/k) And The form fitting packing foam. Only suggestion would be some sort of hard covering over the IC ends (one of mine was bent during shipping, but the box looked like ti had been tossed around)
Overall it looks amazing i'll post some pics of it installed after i get it back from anodizing.
Great Job Dave, I think your New TIG Welder is a Keeper.

No, anodizing is an electrochemical process that thickens and toughens the naturally occurring protective oxide. The electrical charge and mild acid "oxidize" the surface of the aluminum, forming microscopic crystals of aluminum oxide. This oxide surface is very hard, much harder than the base material, but very thin, often only a thousandth of an inch. The resulting finish, depending on the process, is the second hardest substance known to man, second only to the diamond.
Hardcoat anodize, commonly referred to as Type III anodizing, is formed by using an electrolytic solution of sulfuric acid. This will produce a generally gray coating .001" to .002" thick with 50% buildup and 50% penetration

Great review. It seems that nobody has ever come up with anything to bash dave's products. With some of the weiners on these boards, that's saying something. Thanks for the writeup and congrats on your purchase.

I love the FMIC myself and the only input I'd have would be for there to be a nipple for the turbo outlet hose on the turbo outlet pipe that connects to the LICP which comes with it.
I attribute 25psi no knock on 93 octane to BR's FMIC and piping ...

Wow, thank you very much. Very cool testing. Seems inline with what we advertise, no shocker there I guess
The intercooler you have was welded by our old welder
The new guy is catching on quickly, just welded up his own intercooler, putting it on his car tomorrow and we'll see if we can blow the end tanks off of it! haha
Thanks again!!

dave,
I'll be disecting one of those e-bay o2 housing and drawing some plans on cad and solid works. I'll be sharing them with all who are interested. I figure it's only fair.
