You are going to get mixed answers on this. Several tuners say yes, several say no.

Try doing a search and sifting through all the BS yourself.

I have them because I believe the added adjust-ability and fine tuning they offer is worth the expense and a minimal risk.

Do you NEED them... no. There are 9-10 second cars on stock cam gears. Some tuners like them and use them, others do not.

cam gears don't "make" power... They allow for the tuning of cams - which make power. nevertheless...

You can easily make 15-20whp gains at high rpm (above 7000rpm) by retarding the factory cams 5 deg. HKS cams also benefit from some adjustment but not to the same degree. The nice thing about adj cam gears is that you can tweak the power curve/idle quality/etc,. to give you want you want.

Those who oppose cam gears do for fear of failure. Of course, if you keep the adjustment range within a safe window and use strong fasteners, the changes for problems are essentially zero. Any way you look at it, it's a lot safer than many other mods such as Methanol, imho.

I only ordered one cam gear to run the +2/0 setting on my 280s. I'll pick up about 15WHP and a good amount of TQ.

Get the Gears! Tuning a car is everything and this is one more way for you to have the advantage over someone who does not tune to the nth degree.
