just my opinon, but if you wont a built motor then i would go for a stroker! the extra cc make it more torquy and drivable on the street!

if you want an all out racer (well drag car) then i would still stroke but get one with a froged steel cranks (not a stock4g64 one) and spin to about 9k

just an opinion of a torque freak but there you go! lol

Chris.

PS as for a nice set up, that spools early and gives good power and loads of torque, try a 2.3ltr (any of the well known shops can help here) and a well matched GT35r! now before you all downcry me for putting a really small trubo on it then F**K OFF! hehe. i would also run water/alky injection and run high boost on it! then you will really feel the torque! lol

Im going with a 30 series turbo, so I think the 2.0 will be just fine for me. Once I get bored with the power either move to a bigger turbo or a 2.1 stroker.

I got a question about a built 2.0 motor. Not familiar with what parts are needed to make a built 2.0 motor but does the crank need to be changed and what about boring? Or is it just a swap of the internals only without any machine work?

They use the stock Mitsu crank, after market rods, aftermarket pistons, arp studs all around, and balance shaft eliminator kit. Everything has to be balanced and clearanced. So yes you need machine work.

Since I drive my car alot on the street. I chose the Buschur 2.3 stroker. I would rather have a car that runs better all the time in different boost levels and doesn't have to be rung out to 9k to be fast.

I believe another reason the fastest cars use the 2.0 is higher revving for greater trap speeds. No doubt if you are trying to build a 9 sec car go this route. I think 10's everyday is pleanty fast. Maybe that's just me though. :P

I don't think you have to. But the less moving parts .... the less things to fail. If they fail , your oil pump is .000001 seconds behind that. Also the less rotating weight, the quicker the rev's. Though I dont think you will feel or see the difference. The balance shafts are just to make the motor run slightly smoother for the everyday Joe that complains about anything less than Lexus vibration quality

I would think so. You should definatly talk to Buschur or AMS before you make your decision. I'm no professional by far. Just giving my opinion.

Wow I feel like I just went back in time 4 years to the land of DSMTalk. Same arguements for sticking with a 2.0 were being thrown around back then. Fast forward to present day and almost every new DSM build is a 2.4.

Excluding cost there are no downsides to going bigger, only upsides. All the "I want to rev" talk is crap.

I run a 2.4 in my Talon and I'll probably jump to a 2.3 or 2.4 in my Evo ASAP. The larger power band is worth it. My 50 trim spools like a 16G.

I cant believe anyone would even bother considering 2.0 if money is not an issue. 2.3 provides MUCH better spool, MUCH better torque and apparently from what ive been seeing lately more peak power. 2.3 for a street car HANDS DOWN. BTW they are revving strokers to 8500 safely. Some are going to 9000

Sweet! You'll love it! Who's building the motor for you?
