questions concerning oil pump

a few months ago i had a problem with spun bearings, actually all 5 main crank bearings got completely worn through. enough so that there is major damage to the crank. i have since ordered ams' stroker kit. i am 99% sure that the oil pump slowly failed because there is really no other logical explination for it. i also ordered a new mitsu oil pump asembley. i was wondering if there is any way to check to make sure that all of the oil sqirters are working 100%, or any way to check that the oil pump asembley is working properley when the car is put back together. mind you that the motor is out of the car now. thanks for any help and sorry if this doesnt make complete sense, i just got out of surgery a few hours ago and am on some major pain killers

p.s. i just bought an oil pressure gauge, wish i got one sooner. i reccomend that everyone gets one

Make sure you flush your oil cooler and all other parts VERY well. You don't want any old contaminated oil getting into the new motor.

I would just get a new oil cooler. Why risk it? It's got to be nearly impossible to flush that out 100% with all of the nooks and crannies in there that could hold little pieces of your old motor.

bvliz,
could you post the particulars?
size, difficulty of install, stock connectors, does it move slightly away from the motor (ie, leave room for a brake duct)
thanks

https://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stor...ctDisplayPopup.

i hope the link works, this is the oil cooler i bought.the install is easy,i bought a 90 deg elbow and 2 straight barbed brass connectors.i cut the fittings off that go into the factory oil cooler, the one line fits fine the other line i had to a add a piece of hose to make it fit. the bm cooler comes with holes driled in it.i had to drill the holes a little bigger so it would mount to the stock brackets, the bm cooler also comes with brackets that i cut down and used to bolt to the other factory location.i still use the stock brake duct.fits perfect.

Like everything else all oil coolers are not alike. If you are spending the money for an AMS short block, you might want to be careful about the quality of your oil cooler. Both oil temps and oil pressure can be affected by an inferior unit. I'd look to Setrab or Mocal before B&M (or OEM) myself.
