Aftermarket Cam Noise (tick)

I am about to install cams and cam gears. I am concerned about cam noise even if I properly bleed the lifters properly and hand rotate the crank a few times.

I just want to get an idea of how many people have unwanted noise from cams.

Ticking is annoying but from what everyone says, it is normal. I had it even b4 the cams its just a little louder now. You'll hear mine at Autobahn...man I can't wait.

No Bleeding. Ticking happens only when low on oil.

I had some ticking for awhile when cold after installing 272s, but now it's gone or not noticeable.

I had some ticking with the stock valvetrain and HKS 272s ... but I do not think the lifters were bled. I performed the "bleeding" procedure (aka lasher adjustment IIRC) and it got a little bit better.

My current setup of HKS 280s and a supertech valvetrain has no ticking.

P.S.: you should add more options to your poll (i.e.: didn't bleed lifters options and i don't know option.). Might get more votes....

As for the options.....if they dont know that doesn't help me.
I will be bleeding them so the other choices do not apply. It should be standard proceedure.

I do not want a ticking car.

bled lifters, no more noise than before the cam install. Except for maybe 30 seconds while the lifters refilled with oil. I will get some noise on a cold morning, before the engine and oil heat up, but I've got 45K miles on my valvetrain, and I relate it to normal wear and tear, and not the cams.

I dont care about the work.....but the noises....oh now that would **** me off to no end. I would hate to have a $30k car that sounds like its on its last leg.

I wish there was a better way to determine why some have noise and some don't.
