Wrong. Stop spreading this crap. You don't even know what a BOV does or why VTA is bad for your car, do you? You probably also don't know how good your stock BOV is, nor how much better it is for your Evo than the SSQV...

@ people thinking they can vent their DV.

Hell, why not just remove the MAF while you're at it. Then you can get a true free flowing intake.

Any BOV can VTA but on a MAF system like all Evo's it causes your plugs to get smoked within an oil change.

OH man not this same crap again. DO NOT VTA ON ANY EVO 8 OR 9, it is bad for your car!! You may not have any problems as of right now but later on down the road you probably will. THE ONLY TIME YOU CAN VTA IS IF YOU GET AN AFTERMARKET ECU, LIKE THE AEM EMS AND CHANGE YOUR MAF TO MAP AND MOD YOUR CAR LIKE CRAZY!!!!! Just slapping on a "bov" that just makes noise it completely a waste of money. The EVO 9 has the JDM MR unit stock and it holds boost like a champ and there is no need to replace it unless you upgrade your turbo to like a GT42r or something and boost like crazy. But for the stock turbo you will be fine.

If you are going to purchase an EVO please research on the car. Man 2F2F has given many people wrong impressions about modifing EVOs. Man I feel sorry for the EVOs that have owners that don't know what they are doing.

PLEASE SEARCH THIS TOPIC HAS BEEN TALKED AND TALKED ABOUT FOR ABOUT 1 BILLION TIMES, and I am really getting tired of reading these bov threads. They are just plain stupid and are taking away from what this website is really about.

The only thing that makes VTA "bad" is because your ECU counts the air that entered the system and when the BOV recirculates the air it still has that same amount of air in the system that it thinks. When you vent it out it thinks there is that same amount of air in the system but in reality you blew it out into the scary scary world, thus causing the car to run rich shortly thereafter.

There is nothing bad about either recirculating or VTA. VTA sounds louder and technically can shove out more air faster. It also makes the intake much easier to work (You dont need one). That is why people do it. It doesnt hurt anything if your MAF is after the BOV or you dont have a MAF.

Oh and does the turbo have to respool between shifts when VTA...... Can it magically hold the spool??? Come on now... did you think either recircing it or VTA could help or hurt the spool???? Either way if you let off the gas when you shift, you will need to respool it. Such a smart group of peeps on here.

And War, whats wrong with the SSQV? Come on now... thats what I got too I would much rather have the Tial but too lazy and too cheap to swap but it works.

And the only thing you could consider BAD mechanically from VTA on a stock car is by it running so rich for a short period of time could cause a small amount of cylinder wash but I doubt it. It really wont hurt anything I doubt aside from driveability.... it will cause the car to stutter between shifts... possibly even stalling the car.
