Red face WARNING Do NOT use OBX Products!!!!

I just purchaced the OBX Intercooler pipe upgrade. These are similar to the Samco as they are strengthened silicone. They replace the rubber parts to the stock intercooler (elbows etc.) Its a complete set.
So after installation I take the car out for a spin. Initally its really an improvement though not huge by any means. So I decided to floor it to give it the "Real" test. All of a sudden I hear a loud Bang like a gun or poped tire. The car stalls but im able to start it and make it into a parking lot befor another stall.
So I poped the hood figuring to find a hose that has slipped off but no. This is what I found. Mind you I run 20psi max as this is a daily driver. The clamps were still attached at both ends!!! Buyer beware. Im contacting the company and sending pics. They themselves cant belive it either as it marketed as an upgrade to stock rubber pipes.

That's ridiculous. I'd like to know if there were any other contributing factors. I agree that OBX is junk and I would never use it.

No offense, but I dont think 99% of Evo owners would consider using OBX products. We usually go with proven products like Buschur, AMS, HKS, etc.

Sucks to hear though.

OBX is like using APC on your Evo. I can't believe you actually bought something made by that ****ty company.

I figured they were only small pieces such as elbows etc. No major piping. I Purchacing AMS stuff monday (which was my initial plan) but a little at a time, starting with the LICP. Don't get me wrong I diden't pay alot and diden't expect a world of difference but def. not this extreme. BTW I do have "expensive parts on my evo like Buschur, Dynoflash etc." Easy guys.I

Hahaha, hope you have your flame suit on, I had learned valuable lessons.....back in the mid/late 90's. Damn I feel old now. I was wondering what you were doing with all those parts but with an obx sh*tty piece.

I wouldn't even buy an OBX washer if there was such a thing.

Damn Bro, I thought OBX was reputable. I once did my Samco hoses on my WRX intercooler and never had a single issue. I think Perrin makes silicone hoses with reputable reliability. Ia m sorry to hear that bro!!

Samco has the exact same intercooler kit. I have their radiator hoses and their awsome. I figured silicone hoses were not drastically different in quality from one company to the next, guess I was wrong!

Ya those OBX's were knockoffs of the samco intercooler kit. Now you know how different silicone hoses can be. Look at the bright side though, atleast nothing major happened to your car.
