Yeah. They're different. I read somewhere the IX plugs go further into the combustion chamber.

Haven't done it for a couple reasons....

1) the been busy excuse

2) there not the same plugs and haven't been able the conform if the BPR7ESs will work.

3) Other IX owners have been finding broken spark plugs, cracked proclen (sp), when changing/checking spart plugs. So I was wait till someone figures out whats happening, making the porclein (sp) break.

They will not work. I tried, the size is different.
So far my sparks are still good. (10k miles, 23psi+/-)
But I am waiting to change to a set of 8s once they are released.
But in the meantime, I'm thinking of getting a fresh set from the dealer.
Anyone know the price?

it was cheaper for me to get them from lancershop and have them sent 2nd day air to hawaii.

Did anyone release any spark plugs for the IX yet?
Or are they still M.I.A?

The plugs on the IX as said before are longer than the VIII.
Im using HKS (denso) Plugs for a cooler heat range with my 35R.

HKS Part number: S40iL
OE NGK number: ILFR7H

Hope this helps

Ok, I'm interested in changing my spark plugs too... so the HKS (Denso) Plus parth # S40iL will work? Thanks...

I'm wondering if it is really necessary to change the spark plugs? I'm also planning to get an Intake for my car.... I'm not trying to jack this thread but I was just asking questions hehe.. I have read that intake won't really give you that much power?

bump for this thread... i have tried the NGK BPR7ES's and the BPR8EIX... both do not fit. Need info on where to get the confirmed HKS's that fit or if anyone knows where to find NGK's that fit.

I spoke with NGK and Mistubishi this was the result:

Stock Plug= NGK ILFR7H Stock #5245 LINK
Step colder= NGK R7437-8 Stock #4901 LINK
2 Steps colder= NGK R7437-9 Stock #4654 LINK
3 Steps colder= NGK R7437-10 Stock #4655 LINK

The EVO9 Stock plug is already cold and is a very nice plug. It goes straight to racing series for anything colder. NGK is sorry for the delay on updating their site for the EVO and should have this new info up on there by the end of the week.

i just installed the ilfr7h plugs on my ix last weekend, car runs great. idle is perfect, came gapped already for the car... and a hell of a lot cheaper then the dealership and everyone else... i got mine from clubplug.net ... just keep in mind with them, shipping was rather slow. may be better to call them and place the order
