Anyone changed their spark plugs on their IX?

Someone told me that I would benefit from changing mine while modifying the car. Anyone has done it on the IX?

I have never seen spark plugs listed in any reputable tuners power packages, so I am wondering what if any benefits it would provide...

I was also recommended to put at least a boost gauge and EGT gauge for safety. I already decided I will get a boost gauge, but am also thinking of EGT and maybe an oil temp gauge while I am at it.

Should I put all 3 gauges to be safe or is boost gauge enough?

AFAIK, the only plugs avail are the OEM replacements.

None of the aftermarket ones fit?

I guess since you know, you have already looked in to it. I was told that HKS has some iridium plugs that might fit the IX

I would stick to OEM or get some NGK's.
As far as guages, boost guage is a necessity if you're going to mod because you WILL be turning up the boost.

what about the EGT and oil temp?

I really don't want to spent any more than I have to but I want to make sure I do everything to keep it safe. would I be able to get away with the boost gauge or is it a good idea to have the others installed at the same time?

Yes, most people change to the NGK BPR7ES or BPR8ES. The stock plug is an iridium plug and it about a 6 1/2 heat range. The BPR7ES is a little cold and help with det. There is alot more to this spark plug stuff, hopefully WarrTalon will come in here and add more info...

I looked in my owners manual and the stock plugs for the VIII and IX are different.

05 VIII - NGK IGR7A-G

06 IX - NGK ILFR7H

I believe the NGK BPR7ES/BPR8ES will still work in the IX. I have some BPR7ES and will probably be installing them on the IX this weekend.

Just make sure you do a side by side comparison. Just in case they are different legnths. Please post your findings as well, would be greatly appreciated by IX owners!
