How hard was it to remove the dash?

Any hidden bolts? Could you do a step-by-step guide? =)

Its not tough to yank the dash. Only "hidden" bolts are in the lower left side of near the steering column and the airbag bolt for the passenger (Behind the glovebox).

The cage is a decent fit considering it allows all stock plastic back in the car. The seat brace is too far forward in my opinion so I might have it cut back out and make a new one that bends backwards a few inches before it goes straight across but I dunno if I care enough. It just makes it so I cant slouch while driving Anyone taller than 6' might be a problem to drive it too

I got it all painted now and the window net installed. Made a custom chromolly driveshaft loop and it turned out great. The fuel cell is also an extremely nice fit and now its mounted tightly.

The car from behind looks very mean with the cell hanging just under the bumper. When the AN lines and biggie pump are in and mounted it will look extremely intimidating. Hopefully Ill get some time to put the interior back together and finish the fuel cell install soon.

Currently just 1/4 mile. I may in the future try to road race it but that will be in a while. I still need to buy a truck and a trailer.. this car is going to start breaking parts very soon Im sure

As nice as it is to drive to the track and drive it home, with this power and stock axles, street tires, stock front, rear, center diff, T-case, motor and head... somethings gonna give. Id like to have the piece of mind of knowing that I got a way back if it does grenade

Well most of the interior is back in now. The problem is getting the dash in The bar connecting the two new a-pillar beams is about an inch too high (So it would run through the bottom of the instrument cluster). Im not so sure what I am going to do about it... either cut the bar off and reweld it or just kink the dash slightly right there... kinda a serious PITA. Itll work out sooner or later

Oh and at least now I got all of the stuff for the fuel cell:

Maybe I will get to trying to figure out my dash dillemma tomorrow. I guess for now I will just rest the instrument cluster slightly towards me and get the rest of it in and worry about what to do with it later.

Right now the engine and head are both stock. The transmission is built. Stock t-case, front/rear/center diff. When I do build the motor I will either use a 2.1 liter or just a 2.0. The head will just be most likely supertech dual springs and a light port job.. perhaps new/oversized valves but I dont really know if it would make enough of a difference to matter.

I drag race the car so a stroker motor would be revving to high for what I want the car to eventually do. Give you an idea... most stroker motors only rev to around 8.75k reasonably well... in 4th gear your only going just over 140. At 9.5k youre going 153. So eventually I would like to be able to safely rev it to 10k just to ensure I get the MPH Im looking for (At 10k your going roughly 161mph.. thatll keep me busy long enough trying to hit Im sure )

Well I got some time to try to fit in the interior... I may be able to get the stock guage cluster to fit without any modifications... Ill just need to contort the dash slightly which probably wont even be noticeable. Otherwise I may be able to trim the cluster enough to make it fit. Here is the progress so far, its starting to look like a car again.

Also, about the fire extinguisher... I read the IHRA rulebook and the NDRA book and niether say you need it to run. Just for certain classes to compete you need one. Do you have any info on what type, size, mounting place, etc that I may need?

I'm not sure on IHRA and NDRA. I know that NHRA does and Rock Falls for example would require one. It has to be 5lbs and is best mounted to the roll bar within arms reach. Personally, I would put one in required or not. It is cheap insurance. The five pounds could save your life or your car's life. Tracks can require one for the classes they designate as well. I hope you never need it though.

No cross bars? Do those rear bars going to the trunk bend at the end or is it just the photo?

Yes they bend: http://www.thedrunken.com/gallery/ma...2_itemId=18754

And here is the reason they bend: http://www.thedrunken.com/gallery/ma...2_itemId=18752 (As you can see... they wouldnt exactly mount too well without a bend).

Not sure what you mean about a crossbar... there are a few crossbars (the main hoop, the seat brace, the front dash bar, the a-pillar bars, the roof hoop, the door bars, the rear braces and a rear strut tower brace).

Right now i carry an extinguisher normally... I learned from the RX7 Project (Which I did need it). I just wanted to make sure I can get it mounted in the "correct" location. Personally I would like it to be where the passenger side rear seat spot was... lots of room with nothing there

Is there an online version of the NHRA rule book?
