It happens if you add a TBE without an MBC or tune. Is that what you did? It can also happen if the boost gauge is reading too high.

What kind of boost gauge are you running? Some tend to read high more than others. My 05 is stock and my gauge says I hit 23-24 psi occasionally.

Yes, it will happen if you add a full 3"TB without a MBC.

i'm running stock boost with a TBE and without a MBC.. and the boost gauge reads 22psi...
is the car really running 22psi or its just because of the exhaust giving me the wrong reading?
i'll get a MBC too.. just debating on which one...

Exhaust doesn't give you a wrong reading. What happens is there is reduced backpressure, so the stock boost rises. Sometimes, it rises enough to cause fuel cut.

My 05 did the same thing with a TBE and no tune. It will peak to 22 psi and taper to 17 psi by redline.

Dude! The same thing happened to me when I bought my car. hook up the boost gauge and the car was reading 25psi with nothing else done to the car at all. Checked everything, still reading 25psi. While Dynoflash tune my car, with all Al's computers hook up, it was reading the same thing 25psi stock. Installed a MBC during the tune, my car is now boosting 30psi taping 28psi with a TBE and cams. Sometimes my car boost so hard my Defi gauges blank out, it happens. Maybe you got a strong EVO like I did.

Um, running ridiculously high boost for no reason doesn't mean your Evo is strong. It means you will soon blow your engine or your boost gauge is off. If Al custom tuned you and saw the boost at 25psi, he would have told you to turn it down. Adding an MBC would not make it boost 30psi, and there's no way it only tapers to 28psi. Pretty much nothing you said made sense, outlaws. This guy isn't talking about a stock Evo randomly overboosting...this is after adding a TBE, which we've already explained why the boost raises.

Well, Al was the one that tuned it, I was not personnally there while the tune happened (I was deployed with the military at the time, friend of mind took it to Al in Oregon for me). Al set it there at 27psi but car like to boost all by itself. I have not touch the MBC or anything at that matters. I am tellig you whats happening to the car. Take it how you want to. After Al tune it, because of the high boost issue, I did put my Utec back on just to do data log for monitoring. the car is running fine. But thank you for your concern.

Oh! There is a alcohol kits intalled during the tune as well! for got to mention. sorry
