Is my auto i/c spray working?

How do I tell if my automatic i/c water spray is working? I can hear a little click and water comes out of the heads when I manually activate it, but I can't seem to hear it when it's on auto. The green light comes on and everyhting, but there's no click noise while I drove (for about 20mins fast and slow).

Does anyone know what triggers a spray? I just want to check that it still works. I don't normally bother with it, but now I'm just worried that it's borken or something...

p.s. I could just have it on auto all the time and see when the water runs out I suppose.

A few weeks back, I changed my plugs to one grade colder. They can't have made THAT much difference can they?

bump again... at least does anyone know what makes it spray? I'd guess there's an intake temp sensor, is it possible that the sensor is broken? Man, i'm worried now.

I know my auto-spray doesn't spray on its own. I have to manually use it also, but from what I've heard it really isn't all that great for cooling the intake charge.

so, hold on a minute, what the heck does 'auto' mean then? is mitsu putting this in as a gimmick or what? the one on my STI come on/off all the time.

from the TSB, the ECU takes inputs from the MAF(intake temp), coolant temp, throttle position, and vehicle speed. I really can't test all these (I guess I could, if I had no other choice) but bugger me if I know what combination of all these tings make the thing spray. perhaps it only goes when you're full throttle and the intake air is real hot or something and it never really gets hot enough - or so rarely that it hardle ever happens?

perhaps using colder plugs really _are_ that effective...

My 04 had the auto sprayer feature and i can tell you i never ever heard it come on in the auto mode even during 95 degree days. The sprayer has a mind of its own. I usually activated it manually when i would use it.

sorry, i edited my last post - but the one on my Sti comes on really often, almost everytime I go full throttle. It _is_ hot here though and I guess the IC on the evo is more effective than the sti.

Go get some plastic tubing and put it on the spray head, tie wrap it so the end is above the hood, when the sprayer triggers it will squirt on your windshield.
