good to hear you'll come out with a better setup. I've become somewhat paranoid about losing little pieces like that... I bet you've got a complex now. lol

I must have lost track of the nut because it fell in the timing belt cover. This explains why the car was fine when cranked by hand, but not while running. I wnet to the shop today, and they asked me if I knew what the nut went to. Right when I saw it I knew exactly what happened. So now I have a $2,000 grade 8 nut. Anyways, I am getting a stage 3 ported head with 1mm oversized stainless valves and bronze guides. The good news is that the shortblock is fine, and it looks really good for having 60,000 miles on it. I think my car will like the new head with the Revolvers. We'll find out next Friday when it gets dyno tuned at Harmon Motive in So Cal.
see, that stinks that it discouraged u to not really work on ur car again. it was a silly accident but next time im sure u will be more careful when u do work on it. oh well, atleast u had the resources to fix it and wont be without ur car for long.
I know exactly how u feel man. last week i was blacking out my headlights and taillights and on the last steps the lenses on the tail lights cracked and the headlights broke.
its a terrible feeling. we spend so much time and effort and do stuff ourselves to have pride in what we have done to our cars and we get shat on. its a major downer. i ended up ordering MR Headlights and taillights. money that could have been spent elsewhere

Everything was fine except the valves were very very slightly bent. They could have ground the stock valves and re-used them, and I could have been out the door for $860. but I decided to just have everything done while the head was off. For the ported head, with bronze valve gides, and 1mm oversized valves it is costing me about $2,200 out the door including all labor. I also had them change the timing belt, balancer belt, thermostat, upper timing belt cover, and water pump. I think I am getting a reasonable price.
He also told me to expect about 10% increase in power with the stage 3 head. What do you guys think.
i dont think its that bad of a deal with all that other stuff being replaced. with about 60k on ur car, its not a bad idea to start thinking about ur timing belt anyway. with all the extra performance stuff ur getting anyway, it makes it even better. good stuff. how long are they gonna keep ur car for?
They said it will be done next Monday or Tuesday, but realistically I think Wednesday. Hopefully not much later because of my tuning appointment. They said the porting job itself takes two days. I also have to wait for the water pump to come in, which will be here Saturday. After all this money, the car better make a damn pretty dyno graph. It will have almost every mod that David Buschur's RS has, so hopefully it will perform similarly, I absolutely love his car.
I've been out of pocket lately, but now that I'm caught up, I think you made the best of a SHlTTY situation. SHlT does happen though. Even those of us who do work often make mistakes. Usually, the more experienced you are, the more likely you are to catch those mistakes before they cost you money though. Looks like you are getting a hell of a deal on the work you are having done. Can't wait to see you tuned out!

now that would suck. put everything back together, go ur first beat run, or just on the dyno and BOOM. Hopefully the shop would be smart enough to look at the pistons good though to check for damage. Hopefully...
