Question Questions after o2 housing install!!!!!!!!!!

Well i finally got around to installing the o2 housing this weekend, and i must say first of all that i will NEVER do one again!!!!!!!! Anyway, my question is, will the turbo spool sound louder after the install? Seems that when im cruising and do partial throtle i can hear the turbo spool but its not the normal spooling sound that you hear at full wot.It sounds like a subaru wrx turbo after they install a dp that the turbo is noticeable. Im guessing its gona be louder since the o2 housing is way much bigger inside than the stock. It sound like how a turbo sounds when you run a open dp but its no way near as loud. It doesnt sound like a leak at all bc im holding boost all the way to redline(1.5 bar)

So can anyone comment on this!! It has me concerened bc i dont know if i might have a leak somewhere in the exhaust. I checked the o2 housing, headers, dp and catback and everything seems tight and sealed....

not sure what the sound might be but i would say make sure you watch your boost because when i did the install my boost spike was way higher on my greddy profec and had to adjust accordingly

do you feel a difference in spool or power with the addition of the o2 housing? also the spool should be louder, unless you are hearing a sound like somone is blowing a whistle you dont have a leak, hope that helps

Try to seal the exhaust (muffler tip) while the engine is running to see if you have leaks.

im gonna say that, even though this may work, its a really bad idea. thats a lot of back pressure u would be exerting on your poor car. but if your gonna do it, stick a potato in the muffler and watch it fly!

The "whistle" is more prominent now, but I attribute that to the thinner material of the new housing.

Thats what im thinking, since i also have a manifold and now with the o2 housing, the spool sounds louder.

I dont think i have a leak, the car pulls really hard all the way to redline!! If i had a leak which im sure i dont, how loud would the leak be? Is it noticeable?

Ron (tigeron) and I did my o2 install on his lift, surprisingly the install was extremely easy and all bolts came loose without a hitch. (Note I have an 03 and the turbo has never been out).

As for the noise, you'll definitely notice more 'wind' noise. The housing is much thinner, and the turbo spools a bit quicker so you hear that more also. I wouldn't be worried as long as you used new gaskets, and tightened everything properly.

My stock gasket was cracked and I could see exhaust gases when I revved the car, or when I first started it. If there is a seriously leak you'd most likely be able to see it.

thanks for the info! I used the stock donut gasket as i was not provided one with the o2 housing. So if i had a leak i could not only hear it but see it also correct?

you would be able to feel it easier than see it I would think. But over time the buildup of the black residue would be easy to see if there was a leak.

I would think so, also it would be pretty loud depending on how bad the leak was...

ok cool. I really dont hear anything that sounds like a leak, pretty much the sound is a louder spool of the turbo from inside the car, specially when all the windows are up
