Some imperfections in the carbon-fiber spoiler are normal and is attributed to the production process. Because each spoiler is hand made their is the chance that some air bubbles could get trapped during to production process.. This is completely normal

I believe in your owners manual their is a section about rear spoiler care.

has anyone tried the uv protectent which is supposedly available at the parts counter?

I also read about the discoloration if its not treated.

Is the turtle UV product safe to use on carbon fiber?

I asked at the parts desk and they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. Has anyone found a good UV protectant? I can't find anything.

There's a TSB on this, fairly long, go to the tech site (http://www.mitsubi****echinfo.com/, you'll need to sign up if you haven't already done so) and search under technical documents/technical service bulletins/carbon fiber spoiler appearance characteristics. Basically it describes a number of appearance features as follows, all of which they call "normal" (read: "Not warranty action material"):

•A somewhat wavy appearance
•A slight shading of the carbon fiber
•An unevenness, undulation, or roughness
•Pressure marks
•Correction marks
•Bubbling, spotting, or pinholes
•Reddish or yellowish tint to the clear-coated areas

I've had my EVO a little over a week, it had just arrived at the dealer when I picked it up. Spoiler looks fine so far. Don't know if this is the case (dealers spew so much nonsense) but mine told me the spoilers actually take longer to put together than the rest of the car (that handmade business again) so perhaps they're rushing them a bit.

I'll help you if you help me....

My wing is fine, purchased 4/26/03 at peachtree mitsubishi, my name is bruce.

But I do have the decel noise in a bad way. I was hopeing the same as you, that I would be able to find a lot of folks that don't have the noise so I can say to the regional rep on monday "Look I don;t see how mitsu can say this noise is enherant to al evo's when the majority of folks on evolutionm say they don't have it"
