Service engine light

ok so i have a quick question. My service engine light has gone on and i onl have like 6500 miles on the car. I have a theory it is one of three reasons:

1. My ecu is flashed for an intake and it does not have the intake on it yet.

2. I have been told that the program it is flashed with from Buschur is bad, this may also cause it.

3. Some ppl have been mentioning phantom knock, which may relate to the whole issue two thing.

What ideas or suggestions fo you guys have?

Go to autozone or your local mechanic and have the code scanned. Without that were just taking a stab in the dark.

First things first...call up a local autozone and have them look up the Codes for you. The SES light throws a code and along with the code comes information of what could be wrong. We can think about possible causes all day and still may not be right.

Have you scanned the code yet or are we still guessing what the problem might be?

Just stop by the shop some time and I'll scan the codes for you. I do it for a bunch of the local EVO's.

If it was a misfire then everytime you start the car or even hit WOT...your car would start to studder as if you are hitting fuel cut and instantly lose 1 piston worth of power...if this is what happens then yes you have a misfire. If it is a misfire, you generally need new plugs.

Mine threw a code at 15,000 and service just reset it. Threw it again a week later and they did more research. Said there was a servcie bullitain on it and reflashed my ecu with an updated code. I would think just shooting in the dark except I immediately noticed a smoother idle and a lot smoother when bogging a gear like 5th at 40mph. Hasn't thrown a code again yet and I'm at 17,500.

Only mods are Bushur Air filter.

I am having the same problem...My service engine light came on at 15000 miles. It said there were misfires in multiple cylinders. I replaced the plugs and wires. The light goes on and off evry so often with the same code. There is no change in acceleration or anything. I am now at 19000 miles. Now I am wondering if I need that same re-flash? Any thoughts? Thanks
-Curtis

Most likely the random misfire code, its a glitch( or mitsu's ****ty coils) with alot of 03 evo's. Some 03's have this code pop up once a week, some will only pop up once or never, its nothing, just clear it and be on your way...cant see it being anything else.
