The stage 2 only includes a hard MAF pipe, mini battery kit, and upper intercooler piping. The addition of those things on an VIII or IX wont add much more than 10-15 hp at most. Save the money for your next pair of tires, unless you plan on going through stage 4, then you can go ahead and get stage 2

LMAO, I wouldn't put neon on my car if you paid me but thanks for the support.

FYI when my cousins IX was still bone stock he put on a turbosmart dual port bov on with little ill affects. He said it surged a little bit but with some adjustments to the stiffness of the spring it started to work just fine. If you must have the noise, like my cousin, then get a dual port bov.

Silk - Just so you know, he's talking about 1 & 2 together and those mods(stage 1 and 2) put me in the 11's. I don't know what you consider a large gain. Guess it's all relative.

Im just talking about a significant gain from just have stage 1 to having stages 1&2. Stage one is were you get a large majority of your power from. I know because i have both stages 1 and 2. I started with just stage one and then added stage two. The jump from stock to stage one was huge, but the jump from stage one to having stage one and two wasn't very noticeable. The reason i did purchase stage two though was because i am planning on doing stages 3 and 4 in the future.

Uh, you haven't seen me give any good advice? Sure, bud, I believe that one. I have good advice in like 30 posts in the last few hours. I also didn't say anything to you about being a noob. I just gave a sad face, which means it saddens me that you have an awesome IX and care so much about the whoosh instead of how well the car runs. It's a very saddening thing to me, because it is blasphemous to the almighty Evo.

Might want to watch your tongue, too. I've helped more people than you could ever imagine. I'm sure I'll even help you one day soon when you ask another newbie question without searching, and no, I won't hold it against you that you went totally apeshlt in this post. Lucky for you, eh?

The stock air box muffles the sound so you can't hear it. With an open element filter there is less crap between open air and the CBV so you can hear the sound more clearly.

get yourself an aem or map conversion kit, then going 100% atmosphere all of a sudden makes sense.

I think it's fine, as long as you get tuned for the idle.

besides, I like my 100% atmosphere setup, seem to stop my car a lot faster at the auto-x, and for some odd reason with my aem setup/tune, it spools up a lot faster between shifts.

Besides, what's the point, if you just want a car to run right? you're entitled to little fun and if you want to go 100% atmosphere, that's fine. All of the evo owners around here are doing it, and it doesn't have any long term effect on them, besides a bit of bad idle when you're stuck in atlanta traffic.

You could also do 50%/50%. You get the sound and some what of a good idle with it.

There are few options for this.

you could buy GFB adustable bov, Agency power BOV, Apex-i Twin Chamber (i think) and do 100%, 50/50% or recirculate completely.

Good luck and have fun. It's a trip to blow off through the gears, it's an experience. Like when a v-tec kicks in but one million times better.
