interference (EMI) with EGT

just wondering where you guys normally run your EGT wire. i originally had the EGT wire run under the spark plug cover where there is a gap on the left side. i had my car tuned a recently and was told my temps weren't supposed to go above 850 in the lower gears. when i took some logs a couple of nights ago, i noticed my EGT's were at around 880-890C already. i also noticed that on long drives my EGT will spike for 1 second at 1200+C (i'm not boosting and my TPS is at 25-30). the shop guy said that my EGT wire is most likely picking up EMI interference from the ignition. just wondering if anyone can confirm this. if so, where do you guys run your wire and what do you ziptie it to?

(also this is off topic) i've done a search on an exhaust expanding. i found one thread stating that it's normal for people that are dragging their car a number of times. yesterday i was at lunch and floored the car a little bit. when i got to the parking lot i noticed my exhaust tip was sticking out about 3/4 of an inch past the bumper where it normally sits flush. i come back to my hours later when im done with work and notice the tip is flush again like usual. should i be concerned with this?

thanks.
