My TC started to whine slightly at 55-60mph then it got gradually worse.

My TC whines all the time at low engine speeds, but at interestate speeds you can't hear because the car is a squeaky rattlebox.

It could be the infamous whine of your TC getting ready to check out. drain the fluids, flush, refill and see if it is gone. good luck, and keep us posted.
