AEM EMS > piggyback or flash for safety?
I downloaded the AEM EMS software and manual (free) and have been perusing them and have to say that I am very impressed with all of the features, particularly as they relate to the ability to make the tune react to unsafe conditions. The AEM EMS gets such a bad rap for being dangerous and more prone to engine damage, but given the fact that there are highly adjustable fuel and timing trims for air temp, knock events, AFR and even EGTs, it seems like the capacity is there to be much safer than any piggyback or flash tune, provided that the tuner actually uses these features. Rather than reacting to knock events, the AEM EMS seems well suited to adjusting the tune to avoid knock before it happens based on a number of very valuable sensor readings that the stock ECU can't monitor (particularly, WBO2 and EGT).
I'd be interested to hear others' thoughts about whether they agree that the AEM EMS has superior safety features to a flash or any piggyback.
Thanks.

I think the biggest disadvantage of the AEM is the ability for the owner to completely fubar their engine.
Without a complete understanding of all the features and how to properly implement them it can be very dangerous. I am just stating the obvious, of course.
I am one of those guys that doesn't understand all of the features fully so I am avoiding it.
