35R, Buschur Stroker, Alchy, and...

Soon Ill be taking my car down to Buschur to have my RnR 35R turbokit installed along with a stage 3 stroker motor with crower rods instead of eagles, alchy injection, exedy HD twin, AEM EMS, 1000cc injectors, UICP with Tial BOV, and upgraded valve springs and retainers. I want to get everything done and tuned in one trip and so was wondering if there were any other mods that would give me good gains, added safety, or be necessary for everything to work well. I know a sheet metal intake manifold will give me more power but is it worth the cost, same applies to any other mods. Specifically, ignition upgrades of some sort? fuel supply upgrades? maybe a ported or sheet metal intake manifold? a buschur stage 3 head package? Im thinking motor mounts while the engine is out would be very easy to do so I think I will add those. Is a kevlar timing belt worth the extra cost? Anyone who has been thru a similar build and can provide some good "in hindsight" advice on what they might have done different if they could do it again would be appreciated.

unless you have a ported head, i wouldnt get a sheet metal mani just yet. Upgrading the ignition would be a good decision though

you will need upgraded ignition if you are running the EMS and trying to run more than 26 or so psi.....

Ive done some searching and some people say the HKS DLI is a good buy and others say it burns out the coils. I dont even know if thats really considered an upgraded ignition either, although I just checked the AMS and Buschur websites and thats all they have listed. I remember seeing an upgraded ignition on the Buschur website awhile back but its not there anymore. Also, Will my single walbro be able to flow enough?

Cant wait to see how much power you put down...after you dyno at Buschur you should stop by AMS and get some numbers there just to see the difference between the two dyno's.

Hey Tom,
I would recommend sticking with the stock intake manifold for now but just port that and bore the t/b to 65mm. We went 10.1 with our black car with that same setup. The DLI-2 is nice and we havent had any problems with running it. As for our ignition we will have a new coil on plug setup out shortly. We're testing it now.

Make sure if you stop by AMS on the way home you go in and attack Eric Gaudi Bam Margera style for me.

In porting the stock t-body and intake manifold, would you recommend the install of the hondata intake manifold gasket as well ??

do the sensors on the t-body go bad after a while??

I'm afraid it'll get damaged in shipping, unless I can remove itbefore sending it out.

Thats the direction I was leaning..porting the stock manifold and the tb to 65mm...another question I had was in regards to the fuel supply...I just have the walbro now, do I need a new fuel rail or anything? I dont want to be limited by fuel supply and I dont want to be stressing the pump too much.

You can run 30 psi with the AEM, just gap the plugs down. The problem with any aftermarket piece like the HKS unit WITH the AEM EMS is that it will burn a coil pack as the EMS dwell does not "work and play well with others"..like my 2nd grade report card.

I've gone through the similar build that you have, and have burnt coil packs, and have had the AEM not like hight boost. SO...gap them down to 22-24 and you'll be fine until you get a coil on plug set up of some sort that is compatiable with the EMS.

Right now Im going to get the car tuned and if there are some ignition issues then hopefully the coil on plug set up from buschur will be ready for me. Also, what about fuel supply upgrades like a better fuel pump or fuel rail to go along with the walbro I have now??

I have a Vivid Racing fuel rail and Walbro with 1000cc injectors as my only fuel supply upgrade. Currently with my GT3076 I'm at 470whp and the fuel supply seems to be fine. BTW...you WILL have problems with the ignition if you don't gap the plugs down, that is a given with the AEM unless you change the ignition. Just an FYI.

As far as the plugs being gapped down Im having the AEM tuned at Buschur so Im sure they will take care of that. Also, people who run 30 plus psi...is there some fuel upgrades besides a fuel rail, walbro, and the 1000cc injectors that are recommended? I have 1000cc injectors, the walbro and now an AMS fuel rail but Im just concerned the pump may not flow enough.

I have run 32psi with the same mods and have yet to have an issue. More is usually better, but you should be fine.

Crower 414s will put a smile on your face. The HKS 272s are too small for 100mm stroke.
