5 speed or 6
5 speed or 6
I was just wondering which you guys prefer.
Im looking into all the specifics so when Im ready to buy one i know exactly what i want.
So, i drive alot going to see clients and going to the office, so alot of freeway driving. But i will also eventually be doing some cone racing.
So.... which one, 5 or 6 speed.

I've owned 3 Evos. two 03 with 5 speeds and an 05 MR with a 6 speed.
The 6 speed is much smoother, even stock without any fluid changes, clutch or booger bushings, etc..
My 5 speed had all the goodies and still shifted like a truck compared to the 6 speed.

Its just that I would trust people here more than a dealer.
And the reason i asked is because all the Evo's that ive seen at the dealership were 5 speed, unless it was an MR.

MR-no options, Bilistien suspension, 6 speed, BBS wheels and i think they all have aluminum roofs now (except the SSL evos)
I just purchased a IX GSR about a month ago, if I had a chance to do it again, I would get the MR with that 6th gear. On the freeway, running 3000rpm's, your going just under 70mph. It keeps me from speeding down the freeway, but I would prefer to have that 6th gear.
Just what I've experienced.

Thats what i thought, just wondering if there were any loop holes.

So if the driving is too different, is it worth it for the smoothness?
Since you've driven both i figure you would have a fair opinion.
To tell you the truth, I don't know for sure, but I was told that it was an experimental transmission out of a test car. Took a gamble on it, but so far, so good.
