Possible solution to ticking lifters...

Ive noticed that there are several companies who make solid slack adjusters. I wonder if its possible to use them with hydraulic cams or if you need a special cam. This might be a simple answer to the ticking lifter issue. Just curious. RRR

The Buschur camp tried the solid ones and said it was a no go of sorts. They didn't work out...

That ticking noise is from mitsu's engineer. It's a mechanical language from the engine tell you; "YoUR CAr Is HeLLa FasT MAn!" :P
but no.. sorry I have seen people trying many ways but the result is never conclusive for a fix.
Let us know with a brand new thread if you fnid a cure.

Look into jackson Auto Machine, or partsdinosaur. I have the latter of the 2 and the only time it ticks is when its a cold start-up. I had major ticking problems after a guy botched my cam install.

i knew a few guys with turbo DSM's that used 15W oil to get rid of "the tick". no idea if it would work on our 4G63's though.

just buy new lifters every time you install cams.

Ray,

When you did my Cams I had that initial noise which lasted just a few minutes, I remember you even bleed the Hydraulic pushers.

I am just as surprised as you to find out that Edwins car that has similar mods to my car except SMC has a more severed ticking noise. I rev harder and higher than Edwins and I still hardly get that noise.

The only time I get that noise is early in the morning as soon as I started the car because the oil is still in the botton. It is inexplicable why the noise comes and go but I can tell you something, i all the 4g63 I had(5 total) the noise is always random.

I believe is a engineering design that goes along with this engine. Just my .2c
Changing te subject, I gave your number to Shadrick, he wants you to install his SMC(I hope I did not screw up by giving him your number)

i'm just saying there are signifigant changes to the 4G63 in the evo compared to the 4G63 in the DSM's, so i'm not sure if solutions for the "old" 4G63 would work on the "new" 4G63. just because it's the same engine code doen't make it the same motor as they're alot different.
