I'm very sorry!
I hope everything could have been fixed.

So it seems that the 6-Speed-Gearbox isn't as strong as the 5-Speed-Gearbox.

Does anyone else made good or bad experiences?

5-speeds grenade just as often, if not more often, than 6-speeds. probrably more due to they're being more 5-speeds out there, but proportionally they're probrably pretty close.

Not from what TRE and Shep say. Do the 5spds strip teeth off of 4th gear from heat fatigue? Jon told me has yet to see a 5spd do that. Yet he has seen many 6spds with the same problem.

heres my 4th:

So what's your advice?

Drive with less power or bear the risk?

How much did you pay for the repair?

I kept the damage to a minimum and parked the car and towed it home.

$15XX and it's on it's way back right now.

Installing a tranny cooler and using hopefully better fluid to try and make it last longer.

If it breaks again I am converting to a 5spd.

OK, so the 5-speed holds about a half quart more fluid than the 6-speed right? and the 6-speed has heat extracting fins on the case that the 5-speed doesn't. this extra half a quart of fluid provides that much more protection? razorlab, did you get your internals cryotreated while it was down? do you think that would help? i don't think warr has broke his trans yet and he seems to give it quite a beating. and no, i'm not a fanboy, i just see he participates in a lot of events without a problem unless he's just not telling evom. oh razorlab, i use castrol syntorq LT in my trans, seems to work great, it's exact equivilent to the super multi gear, but fully synthetic. been running it for about 20K miles with no problems.

Warr broke his 6spd on the open track 2 weeks after I broke mine. 4th gear just like mine.

No Cyro.

I'm leaning towards this: http://www.neosyntheticoil.com/75w90rhd.htm

If you're thinking of Neo, why wouldn't you use Amsoil then? I've always been a big fan of their motor oils, although I've never tried their other lubes.

Why did you choose not to cryo the interals? cost?

Jon said he was still on the fence about cryo and it adds approx 2 weeks to the rebuild time.

Did Jon shotpeen the gears? From the little I know both cryotreating and shot peening help strengthen the gears.

Not sure, communication hasn't been a strong point of the relationship. I will try and ask once he is back in the shop.
