I took my entire manifold and turbo when I did this (well I left the compressor side of the turbo on the car). I also upgraded to the 10.5 housing when I did the o2 housing. It really isnt that bad to pull the manifold off the car. Just pull the radiator out so you wont damage it. After that just loosen the vband clamp on the car and leave the compressor in the car and pull the hotside with the o2 housing attached. I think superhatch on here has a great how to if you want to look over it.

I also pulled the turbo and manifold out. If you have converted the manifold to 4 bolts, then you might be able to pull the manifold off, then undo the v-band clamp on the turbo and slide the hot side and O2 off together (after disconnecting the downpipe).

I didn't take the turbo, mani, or radiator out. All I removed was the downpipe, and upper and lower heat sheilds. With the proper tools thats all you need to get at the 3 bolts and 2 nuts. It took me about a hour and a half.

I guess I was on the right track, I had the manifold out but I couldnt get the hotside off after the v-clamp was taken off.

Can I spray wd-40 or pb blaster on the seam where the hotside and the turbine housing meet w/out hurting anything???

Well Im going to try again today, thanks for the help

Use a flat head screwdriver to separate the hotside from the turbo, do it carefully, i had the same problem

I did mine in the car with everthing connected and it took a few specialty wrenches to get everything loose. One of the bolts was super hard to get loose because of location, but it took maybe an hour start to finish.

Use a flat blade screw driver BUT work it in on the sides (one side and then the other a little bit at a time) rather than the top.

Be very careful when you remove the hotside. The turbo fins bend easily!!!
