How do i remove 02 sensor from 02 housing?

Im pissed right now. I got my new downpipe an 02 housing all bolted up. There is only one problem. I cant get the damn 02 sensor out of the housing!! Ive tried soaking the crap out of it with PB, and getting at it at every possible angle.

For you guys that have removed yours, and dont have one of those handy table mounted vise clamps. How did you remove yours??

Have you tried heating it up with a torch? The bung not the actual sensor or wires you may also need a line wrench

after heating it up with a torch for about 5min dip it in cold water and it should break it loose from the impact after it breaks it loose... with an open wrench and a table clamp hit it with a hammer...i know dude its a pain in the *** it took me like 1hr just gettin the sensor off..but after that first break it twistes right off...good luck

I used a vice-grips once and tapped it with a large hammer. The shock of the hammer on the vice-grips broke it free. Need to secure it to something, either have the housing held down by someone or bolt it to something.

I would not suggest using vice grips as they can easily damage the threads on the sensor. If you dont already have one you should absolutly buy an 02 sensor socket. Then you can use a breaker bar and if needed put an extension pipe on the end to really get lots of leverage, your gonna have to find some way to really hold the 02 housing down. I removed the 02 sensor while the 02 housing was still installed on the car so I did not have to find a way to hold the 02 housing.

PLEASE DO NOT HIT THE WRENCH WHILE IT IS ATTACHED TO THE O2 SENSOR.

The shock from the impact can damage the sensor.

I suggest putting the O2 housing in a table vise, and use a breaker bar.

What ever you do, do not hit the wrench while you have it on the sensor.

Here's a few links on the, "How To" to change or take out the O2 housing. I hope it helps you. Seems like a lot of work.

I put my O2 on the ground with alot of towels wrapped around it, straddled it with my legs and used a open end ratchet, alot of huffing and puffing but it came off.
