Clutch chatter on new clutch?!?!

I just installed a Fidanza flywheel and Clutch Master stage 2. Everything seems fine except when I take off from a dead stop, I get some chatter and vibration. Happens in reverse all the time. But if I am moving or even rolling a little its smooth. Is this normal? I have never driven w/ a light flywheel before.

Let it break in, then see what happens. Twin disks chatter all the time, but if you don't have a twin, then hopefully it's just in the break-in phase. My chatter went away on my single disk ACT after a few hundred miles.

not the same setup as you, but I had the same chattering noise when I first got my Exedy Twin setup. The chattering issue is basically an non-issue. The clutch works like a champ and the car drives like a dream!

give it a few hundred more miles and you should be ok.

Good luck

During break-in you should not be afraid of slipping it a bit more than usual. This extra slipping will sort of "lap" in the disc against the flywheel. This does not mean beating on it either.

i had the excedy twin on my 03 and it chattered some on take off like you described but after about 500 miles of easy driving the chatter started to slowely go away. the only thing i didnt like about it was the deceleration noise, but thats the nature of the beast.when its time for a clutch on my BR350 IX#005 i,m going to use the HD excedy twin. i heard its an improvement over the none HD in terms of driveability and the decel noise.

as far as the single i had in my car(03)for 1200 miles before it went. i broke it in for 500 miles also, nice easy driving, and it chattered like crazy the whole time. after break in i made only 7-10 launches(nothing crazy) before it went on me. i talked to bernie solomon at daiken and told him my story and he said the clutch should have never been recomended to me for the power i was making 325 whp. he asked me who recomended it to me and sold it to me and i told him and he said he would get in touch with the vendor(dont want to mention who)to verify my story and get in touch with me as soon as possilble. the next day Bernie called me back and told me he was sending me an excedy twin, the clutch that should have been recomended to me in the first place, no charge, not even shipping charges and didnt even want the single back. I couldnt believe it . Bernie is a great guy to deal with (obviously)and daiken stands behind they,re products
