i went with 272/272s just a few days ago. a friend of mine has 264/272s and says he wishes he went with the 272/272s; While another says the opposite. Its all personal preference. Apparently the 264/272 conbo will give you a little more torque mid range while the 272s will show their potential in the mid to high end.
Where will you be purchasing the cams from?

none...in fact it's a slight disadvantage to 272/272....albeit a very slight and probably unnoticable difference.....

super happy with the 264/272 hks with vishnu cam gears. I think it is great for the strip 264 to get out of the hole and 272 top end. I have heard that 272/264's have done well also, not to confuse.

Just curious as to what combo you ended up going with? I'm torn between the two as well. The one thing that I hate most about the evo is the lack of top end. So would the straight 272/272 combo be best for me? My car is on the street a lot more than its on the track

hopefully you plan on doing the MBC & fuel pump first...

as far as cams go, get the 272/272's. its a good "middle of the road" cam as in you'll see the most benefit in the "meat" of your powerband and in the top end as well. if you look around you can find some lower priced cams that offer the same performance.

from what i've read too, cam gears aren't recommended for our cars running the stock turbo. the investment vs the gain in hp is better spent on something such as alky inj or a reflash.
