My '03 evo is pretty much track only at this point. big problem with ther car on track is the tall 5th gear, and the big gap between 4th and 5th gear ratios. I'm in the northeast, and at every track i go to (with the exception of shendoah) I'm in 5th at least once per lap. that tall gear kills acceleration. i know the IXs have a slightly shorter 5th gear ratio, but is the also anything available from the aftermarket? i still drive the car to events so i dont want to go radically shorter. but 5%-10% would be nice and still livable on the interstate. Also, swapping out the ratio, would that basically require a full rebuild? thanks
