Honestly, I don't know enough about ACD to know what kind of benefit we're talking about here. But I vote yes just because I'd like to see what kind of gains you could get out of it...

Reason being is that the ACD unit found in other markets also doubles as the AYC control unit. Since we do not have the AYC in our version, the aftermarket units would probably freak-out and not work. I have found no evidence of someone trying to equip a USDM Evo with an aftermarket ECU however.
again I don't know where did this info from. but I know ACD don't doubles as the AYC control unit.

the information came from a thread that Terry S made, as to where he got the information im not 100% sure. I dont know the exact inner workings of how the ecu's interact, i was just going by what I read in the thread. If David or someone else would be so kind as to enlighten us as to more specific specs in regards to the ACD and ayc ecu so that we could get a solid answer that would be great.

back to evo 101 for 2006 models
JDM evo rs no ayc = USDM rs
JDM evo gt no ayc = USDM GSR
JDM evo gsr with ayc = non USDM evo
JDM evo mr with ayc = non USDM evo

USDM evo mr = JDM gt + 6 speed gear box and some accessories (vortex generator)

so, ralliart ACD ecu is design for JDM rs and gt, then it will work with the USDM evo.

as I mentioned in my post the advantage to re-tuning the ACD vs. setting you car up "looser" is that there will be times when the looser set-up will actually be slower (hard transisions being the obvious place along with high speed corners). With the ACD re-tuned you can have that desired "loosness" when appropiate and have the car "buttoned down" for the times you don't need it, you're not locked in with the ACD, it's active unlike suspension tuning. Net result is less compromise and a faster car

We know there are advantages to tuning it because the Non US race cars don't use the stock programing. The suggestion that the JDM ACD re-tunes won't work on the US (non AYC) spec cars makes this all-the-more needed...

Paul, have you driven a Japanese SAYC car? Are they as awesome as claimed? Sorry for the slight OT question, but I wonder from a driver's perspective that has successfully campaigned a viscous diff car. TIA.

Interested. I would also like to suggest using the stock ACD switch to change between custom presets. You could illuminate combinations of two LEDs to indicate the different presets (I believe three LEDs on simultaneously are reserved for the fault state). This would give an additional three preset indicators.

I would be even more interested in an S-AYC-like product. Given a car with ABS and a yaw sensor, it should be possible to add some servos and some control logic to add the functionality. Of course, a steering angle sensor may also need to be added.

not arguing but are you 100% sure that the JDM acd ecu's will work in a USDM car? until I see one outfitted and working in a USDM car i will be skeptical of it actually working.

Ralliart ACD ECU won't work with our USDM model.

Again, your information is very wrong.

ACD does not split power.

No offense,

Please get your fact straight before you post.

Ralliart ACD ECU will not work with USDM car.
