Timing Belt Change Question....

Hello All,

Currently been reviewing most the threads on cam installations, timing belts, tools and things that would have to do with the installation. I have been reading and reading just trying to come up with my game plan. My brother is a tech so he is def. up to par with working on cars, I'm just doing my homework when he has any mitsu related questions (as he is an audi tech...) I already ordered the auto tensioner belt tool but I know I need a couple others.

Shop manual states I need a special spanner tool with pins, and a "Tensioner pulley socket wrench" which goes within one of the tensioners for the timing belt.

The spanner tool I know Ill need and here is a link to one that looks almost identical to it but not sure if itll work on this vehicle?
Universal Spanner Tool- Part No. 6613

Here is the socket wrench but again will it work on this vehicle?
Timing Belt Tensioner Tool - Part No. 7997

Let me know what else would be needed to do a timing belt change?

We use a breaker bar creatively positioned. It flattens the tensioner AND pushes the pulley. Double insurance and more leverage, I'll shoot you some photos if I get a chance!

That would only help when tightening the main timing belt correct?

I believe these are the special tools you will need.

Does that mean that any spanner tool will work?

Couldn't tell you, but the one I pointed out is the only one we use at the shop. There are alternatives that others use, but the correct piece is inexpensive and makes things much easier than trying to hack your way through the job.
