TC problem or bad wheel bearing?

Another whining noise thread...

I have an 05 Evo 8 with a whining noise, but I'm not sure if it's the TC. You can hear it while driving, but once you're at +65 MPH the noise is gone (or at least I can't hear it anymore). It's not a loud noise, I can't hear it if the radio is at medium volume. Also when speed goes below 20 MPH the noise is gone, and I think the whining noise sounds faster (not louder) with speed. If I put the car in neutral or press the clutch, the noise remains. I think it may be a wheel bearing, but not sure about it. My car has some mods and don't want to take it to the dealer until I have a better idea of what is wrong. Anyone here has a similar experience?
Thanks.

in my personal experience (new tc last week) the tc noise is typically throttle dependent. Meaning it changes depending on whether you are on the gas, off the gas or coasting. It does not change in pitch depending on which gear your in but changes dependent on vehicle speed (and the afforementioned throttle position). The faster you go the higher the pitch whine.

hope that helps a bit!

Thanks for your input chronohunter. I think I may have a bad wheel bearing, or at least I hope.
