12V ignition on power source?
Where should someone tap inside the passenger compartment for a power that is only on when the key is in the ON position? I ask because I have a Defi oil pressure gauge that I currently have wired up to come on when the key is in the ACC position. HIGHLY annoying when just trying to listen to the radio... I'd like my gauges to fire up only when the key is turned to ON/RUN.
Ignition wire under the steering column. It should be one of the large gauge wires. Probe for the correct wire using a voltmeter.

If you have a turbo timer you can use a vampire clip on the harness. Once again, probe with a multimeter to determine the correct wire.
If you don't have a turbo timer, a TT harness alone is a great was to have easily accessible Constant 12V, IGN 12V, and ACC 12V. You should use applicable fuses when using this power source though.

Well you always want to use a multimeter to check for your powersource, according to directechs.com your 12v is:
Item Color Polarity Location
12volt white (40A) + ignition harness
The majority of the time your power wire is red
Now its your job to test if it is a constant source or not.... TEST REGUARDLESS IF PEOPLE TELL YOU IT IS A SPECIFIC COLOR

I'm beginning to lean that way yeah... I'll just wait for my buddy to get back and we'll check it out. Thanks for all the input guys. I just can't believe this isn't a big issue. People must not listen to the stereo a lot with the engine off + having an oil pressure gauge.
I just use the cigarette lighter circuit on the fuse block. I never use the lighter except on the rare occasion where I need to recharge my cell phone in-route, and even then, everything still continues to operate flawlessly.
I'm running two gauges and a Passport SRX radar defense system on this circuit, and yes, it is toggled by the ignition.

Oh yeah, everything still works fine...but the fact remains that the gauges will power on when the key is turned to ACC, rather than the ON/RUN position. When you have a pressure gauges such as oil, there is no pressure when the engine's off hence the warning beeper will go off indefinitely, making it impossible to just listen to the radio w/the engine off. That's my point.

I was leaving my community a few weeks ago and was about to turn onto Westminster Avenue and a cop was sitting there on his bike radaring people. he glanced in my car and saw my Valentine One going haywire because of his speed gun and gave me this look like "WTF is that??". I smiled and pointed toward his radar gun and gave a trigger pulling motion with my hand. He shook his head and smiled as i drove away.

The next day I wired up my remote display on my valentine one so they cannot see my bright red arrows and lights on the detector.
