Evo IX clutch issues
Does the Evo IX seem to have a softer clutch engagement. Ive driven the Evo 8 and it seems that the clutch is alot stiffer...almost comparable to a sti. Then on two Evo IX's i drove the clutch pedeal seems so soft. Anyboy else know why or how to fix this.
Dunno about you, but my clutch engagement feels the same compared to an 06 STI I drove. Its just that the STI clutch has a shorter clutch travel though. I think all of the stock clutches are pretty soft too.

Well, I owned and modded my 8, and now I've got the 9 MR, and the clutch "feels" just a tad more compliant. I think I read on here that there's no real difference in the clutch setup, but I'd really like to know for sure --- especially about the longevity.
SS clutch line should firm it up a little, BTW.

I know its not just me....Three diffrent Evo 8's and Two Evo IX's not including mine. All the 8's feel the same but the IX's feel diffrent... The pedal feels softer not as stiff as the 8.

I've driven a bone stock evo 8 before I bought my 9, and the clutch feels the same to me. The pressure/ engagement are both fine. It doesn't seem softer, just get a ss clutch line and it should help if you are worried about it feeling softer. But the specs on the clutch should be the same for the 8 and 9. the only changes for the 9 that are different from the 8 are just some minor cosmetic changes, mivec and turbo. every other mechanical components of the 8 and 9 are exactly the same.
daisaw1219,
Actually the clutch disc engagement on the Evo Mrs were softer than in the regular Evos. This was covered more than a year and a half a go.
There were pictures illustrating that the Evo MR Clutch has longer engaging springs thus with more travel and smoother engagement contrary to the stiffer and shorter springs on the regular Evos..
As far is the Evo 9, it is very soft. I drive it almost everyday and is very soft.

Yeah good thing I'm hearing that the evo 's clutch is soft because after 1300 miles my clutch felt so soft. I was so scared that my clutch was toast. It feels so weird almost to the point where it feels like it's broken. I loved when I first bought my car the clutch pedal was stiff. Oh well I 've gotten used to it now so it doesn't really bother me too much.I was just a little paranoid since my clutch was so soft. But I guess it's normal ,...Right?
