act hdss tob rattle

I recently changed my clutch, pressure plate, flywheel and tob in my evo ix. I have noticed there seems to be a slight rattle when driving or when starting from a stop when rpms may go low ( still getting used to clutch ). Is this a common problem? Anything I can do to fix?

Extremely common, which is why I purchase a Mitsubishi OEM TOB when doing a clutch such as an Act. Has something to do with the bearings ACT uses. As far as it being an issue, the only issue you will have is that noise, for the life of the clutch. When at a stop next time just push the clutch in the noise goes away. Don’t do this all the time, just to see if the noise goes away, if it does it is the TOB.

ACT does not use the same TOB they used to. I believe they are the same as OEM now.

I've gone through 3 ACT HDSS so far with mixes of OEM and ACT provided TOB. It's going to clunk regardless

Mine does the same thing at idle in neutral with the clutch out....goes away when I push in the clutch....typical noise with the ACT supplied TOB....someone told me AFTER the install to use an OEM tob...oh well....

I had this rattle when I bought my car. Depress the clutch, noise goes away. Prev owner used the act tob.

Input shaft bearings also make this similar rattle when they go bad too.

With the next clutch install I used the OEM tob and for about 200 miles it was quiet then the rattle reappeared.
