Input shaft bearing or TOB
Input shaft bearing or TOB
I've noticed a rattle coming from the front of my car and I'm led to believe it is the input shaft bearing after some research....but I could be wrong.
-Loudest, most noticeable rattle happens in 4th gear at 40+ mph
-Noise goes away when car is thrown in neutral
-Noise goes away when clutch is pushed in
-Only happens when I am coasting and not applying gas
-Not as noticeable in 5th gear
What does it sound like to you guys?

most importantly:
--look for extra or excessive trash in trans fluid itself and on magnetic drain plug. anything.
noise gone with clutch engaged in N while rolling?(pedal out)?
problems shifting at all into gears? race car-like whining? the input rear is a sealed bearing-trash may not be found at times.

there's a slight whine....seems relatively normal though....nothing obnoxious or alarming.
noise is gone with clutch engaged and in N while rolling w/ pedal out.

not really a problem shifting into all gears. i have to be completely stopped otherwise it'll be a pain to get into 1st. going into 2nd when it's cold is difficult at times too.

I blame the hdss tob, no proof, but the tranny and clutch are coming out in a couple months, trans is going to shep and comp clutch 2100 is going back in. Hope you figure out your issue and if you do let me know, I will do the same.
Yessir, I will be going with Comp Clutch next time around.
