Things are starting to get exciting. .. Although I am pretty sure this is covered I just want to make sure, for my self reference.

1. Does XEDE cover the need for an external boost controller?

2. Does XEDE cover the need for a air/fuel controller?

3. What other items should a person have besides, the exact parts for the map, for the Xede. set up? Gauges?.. Just want to know what i can save up and buy. I don't want to buy things later i have to upgrade or sell.

BTW.. Added in. How much will the XEDE unit cost alone?

1) Yes.

2) Yes. It also covers the need for an ignition timing controller and datalogger.

3) A boost gauge would be nice. Nothing else really.

4) The XEDE costs $795. See http://www.vishnutuning.com/xede.htm for more info. This link is specifically for WRX application. The EVO XEDE page is going up within the next few days. The basic info is the same though...

Cheers,
shiv

Well this sounds like the way I should be traveling, my main concern will be daily drivability. Since this is my daily driver, its a matter of reliability for me. Should i expect almost stock feel, (with more power).

Will there be a harness out? I don't like to splice
Thank you again for your excellent costumer relations. Since I don't live in north cal, i don't know if i can justify a reason to drive up there. When will your unit be ready for idiot-installation (fed-exed and installed by average consumer)

Drive up there....it is worth it....I drove 10 hours last week to have Shiv install the Xede in my car .......and I am lovin it
To answer your question about driveability, it is like stock until you put your foot down....mine pulls hard all the way to red line...

As far as data connection goes, is a laptop the only acceptable interface with the Xede or is there a way to use a palm pilot or pocket pc? Yeah, a little out of left field I know. I'm nearly thinking about making a weekend drive down from Seattle to get some in-house testing. This is sounding better and better. As far as the boost controller aspect, does it modify the stock boost solenoid (which I would think unlikely) or do you just purchase an addon boost solenoid for the Xede at some point?

Right now, the only interface is for a PC. This may change eventually but not anytime soon.

As for boost control, the XEDE actually intercepts and modifies the factory boost control solenoid signal. I don't think this has ever been done before but the results are quite nice. This approach was the only way to maintain the factory's knock-induced boost reductions. To program boost, all one does is input a plus-or-minus boost offset as a function of engine RPM and load. It's a lot easier than programming targets, base duty cycle values, closed loop logic, etc,.

The XEDE can also offer open loop boost control which is probably better suited for progressive nitrous control, staged injector control, in-cylinder water injection, etc,-- all of which are just theoretically possible functions and have yet-to-be-tested.

As for traveling up to our shop for custom dyno mapping, it is recommended for maximum possible performance. However, having mapped so many Stage Zeros by now, our baseline XEDE mapping has been getting cars to within 95% or so right off the bat without any tuning. The car we did yesterday baselined at 208 wheel hp before tuning and 215 wheel hp after 20 runs of small tweaks here and there.

Cheers,
Shiv

Shiv, this looks good, if the XEDE does the same job as an AFC plus an EBC, that's not bad for the price. I have a couple of questions before I place an order:
1. Do you have those mapped for the 92 octane gas we have in Georgia?
2. Is the map made to optimize the car for a 3" cat back? how about a K&N filter?
finally, what horsepower/torque gains could I expect from these mods (including your mapped XEDE)?
I've got the EGT and Boost gauge coming and will be installed very soon. I'm very excited about the possibility of getting performance upgrades that work as intended and as advertised.

The new firmware upgrade I told you about last week (and am testing right now in our EVO) introduces closed loop boost control, real-time map switching and a few other neat features.

Shiv,
Thanks for the reply. Knowing how busy you are, it is possible that it just might be more than a couple of days before this info makes it onto your website. In the interim, I assume that because the XEDE knock sensor input is a single wire that it requires cutting the stock wire and taking the input from the engine and attaching it to the XEDE. Is this correct and if so can I just go ahead and connect it?

Looking forward to the next firmware release with the features you mentioned above.

Thanks,

Is that with 91 or 93 map? If that for 91 octane how much more untunned hp for the 93 maps? Also pm me if your planning to make another trip to east coast or have the harness ready.

thanks,
