Well, that's wrong. BPR7ES are the best for stock and lightly-modded Evos. The BR8ES, which I do use now, don't need to be used until running big boost on alky.

Your car may not have done well, but many many other Evos out there used them all the time. That's all I used until I started using alky, because the spark was getting blown out with the high boost.

Cuban, you can get Iridiums if you want, but they cost a lot more and can't be re-gapped.

You can re-gap iridiums, ive done it before you just have to be careful. Also, you dont have to run ridiculous boost to need a colder plug. Per NGK you should go 1 step colder per 75-100hp added.

A good rule of thumb for a step colder plug on a tuned Evo from what I've seen is 22-23psi on pump gas, depending on the fueling.

Warr,

Vishnu recommends the BR8ES. That's what I've had on my car since I first changed them out. They're gapped to .24. 91 octane is not your friend.

No reason whatsoever to go colder on a nearly-stock Evo or one running pump gas. They can work, but they aren't needed. BPR7ES are the best. Btw, I use BR8ES, but only due to 26+psi on alky. Before that, I ran all my best times (and drove daily) on BPR7ES.

You should have done your runs after you got flashed on the same dyno as before you got flashed. I got 295-300 hp and about the same torque on 91 **** gas with less mods than you have. I only have a drop-in filter, tbe, and an Xede. I wish we had 93 octane in CA, then the tuner would have extracted more power from my car.

So you know more than NGK now? I guess because you ran your best time on BPR7ES than that makes you an expert. Please refrain from giving people poor advice about topics you dont know about. Too warm of a plug (what you're advising) can do much more damage to a motor than a colder plug can. Thank you.

Let me throw my 2c. I did some research and talked to Tuning Tech in Socal and they told me to use BPR7ES. I asked if I should go a step colder and they said no. My mods are TBE, drop-in and Xede. Scot Gray who is also a well known Socal tuner recommends BR7ES which is 1/2 step colder than the BPR7ES

With your mods I wouldnt recommend going a full step colder either. With cams and increaed boost im sure his recommendations would change.
