No.

All stock evo turbos have a 16G compressor wheel. The 20G E9 is an E9 turbo with the 16G wheel removed and replaced with a 20G wheel.

ok so I havent stripped either of them down to the last nut and bolt but heres why I think and have committed myself on the www to this.

1) I handle Evo and Scooby turbos on a daily basis
2) The compressor housing is physically larger on the 9 compared to the 8
3) I would be most surprised if the larger housing (20g externally in size) only houses a 16g wheel

so my sherlock holmes ability leads me to the conclusion the 9 has a 20g compressor housing and wheel

The evo 9 compressor is considerable larger than the 8 compressor.
You can have a 20g wheel in an 8 and 9 turbo

The only other logging info I have besides the AF's are the spoolup times. It seems as if there is about 100 rpm of more lag with this turbo, but I can't even notice it. The power comes on so much smoother and stable. It seems to hold just about 1psi more of boost towards redline. Before I was holding 17psi all the way to 7500, now I am holding to around 18 by that point.

not all evos come with a "16g" compressor wheel. the e9 compressor wheel IS DIFFERENT from the e8 compressor wheel. does that make it a 20g? NO!!!!!!! NO!!!!! AND NO!!!!!!!

pay attention! the evo 8 comes with the same classic "16g" cold side that has been on since the evo6 and possibly even before that.

the evo9 is the FIRST TURBO TO CHANGE THE COLD SIDE IN 3 GENERATIONS OF EVOS. this is denoted in the part number for the e9 turbo. the compressor housing is larger, the diffuser within the housing is larger. the compressor's exducer is larger.

the hot side has obviously changed in varying models and years from the 6.5 tme to the 9.8 in the e7 and e8 and the 10.5 in the e8s also.

now... how the **** IS ANYONE deducing that the evo9 comes with a "20g" wheel? the number of blades? you people are ridiculous. in order to TRULY SEEEEEEE a compressor wheel it must be OUT of the housing. you must measure hte inducer diameter and the exducer diameter, the fin pitches and a BUNCH of other ****.

this is wrong... it's an e9 wheel... not a 20g. plus... there is no such thing as a 20g wheel taht is a made up name from br and it's come to describe MANY things from a variety of test wheels to the WR wheel to the 6 bladed 20g wheel.
