I bent up that honeycomb metal piece that goes inside the maf sensor .. Should i get a new one or just not run one?

You're going to have to fix it or replace it.. Unfortunately your car will never read/run consistently without the honeycomb...

Good question, however I'm gunna go out on a limb and assume that it has something to do with controlling the airflow over the sensor, its probably there for a reason.

I would say you definately need to run one, the honeycomb, I believe straightens the air to allow it to blow evenly across the maf. I know old DSM guys used to take it all out, to trick the maf in seeing less air, to lean out the car, but I am not sure on how well it would run on the evo.
Taking out the honetcomb in the maf kinda acts as a poor mans SAFC
How bad is it bent up, can you fix the fins?
