Installed aftermarket parts and boost went down?

Hey everyone, I recently got Injen intercooler piping, intake, and greddy rs bov installed and I noticed that my car was only hitting 11psi at full boost. I was like wtf? I took my car back to where I got the parts installed and told them of the problem.

Before I got those parts installed I just had an Espelir dp and catback exhaust and I would hit 19psi in 3rd. So they tryed adjusting the bov to no avail. They tried tightening the couplers on the piping and they also found a kink in the factory boost controller. That brought it up to 15/16psi in 3rd.

They suggested I bring in the factory bpv the next day to see if the greddy was the problem. The next day they tried it out and it still read the same-16psi as well as the greddy after they reinstalled it. They then took off the bumper and tightened down the intercooler piping and that got it up to 17psi, which is where it's at now.

They told me that the ecu probably needs to relearn with all the extra parts installed. I'm gonna give it a couple days and take it back if it doesn't go up. I think the next step would be either to reinstall the factory piping and airbox to see if it is the injen's fault or to just reinstall the injen from scratch. What do you guys think? Does the ecu need to re-learn or could it still be a boost leak?

your boost goes down when you install things like intakes and piping and goes up when you free up the exhaust part so just turn the boost up back to 20 pr whatever you like.

Boost is RESIDUAL MANIFOLD PRESSURE. Instead of your pipes swelling and boost backing up in the manifold it's now flowing in and then out...more efficient. Probably much quicker on less backed up pressure.

HOWEVER... Evolution's OEM ECM will lower boost to compensate for increased airflow. You need a reflash to prevent this. Not saying this is exactly the problem in your case, but it is true with 06 for sure, and 8s as well to my knowledge.

I'm gonna be getting a test pipe soon, do you think that will have an effect on it at all?

That's cool, the car was just completely different though when it was at 11 psi. It just didn't have that same sucked back into the seat feel.

If that were true for the Evo 8.....wouldn't a MBC fix this...because im seeing the same problem where i cant get over 17 PSI even with the MBC turned all the way up. I bought the car with an aftermarket intake and exhaust.

That's what happens when you add the wrong mods.

My guess is you didn't hook up the stock boost lines correctly,if your using the stock controller.Without the correct lines hooked up,boost will fall.
